Perhaps this scheme will enable us to hear more often from each other
Audiovisual installation, 2019
De Montfort University, Leicester, UK
Duration: 30:10 min loop
A poetic documentary of visual and auditory impressions collected from eight localities assembled into a collage of fleeting moments of transience juxtaposed with longer stretches of reflection and meditation. The places travelled and depicted relate to my family history and current personal circumstances. The piece's title is a quote from a letter sent from England in 1941 to my father during his station in Cairo as a Royal Air Force radio operator.
The audiovisual composition was structured into four parallel lines of consecutive events of an ongoing voyage projected in the installation's spatial setup on four large-scale screens and from thirteen speakers enabling multiple points of view and audition, inviting the audience to move about the installation space and to relate the heard and the seen to their own knowledge, memories and imagination.

Composition diagrammatic rendition
'Perhaps this scheme will enable us to hear more often from each other' diagrammatic rendition of the composition’s four storylines.
The graphic scheme depicts the geographic trajectory of the composition, layering of the varying sound types and their dynamic progression over time and the distribution of each of the four storylines to screens and speakers.
'Perhaps this scheme will enable us to hear more often from each other' was conceived and realized by me as part of my PhD research – 'Visual Music Strategies and the Sense of Place'.
